Specialized has been hosting their A1 Ride Daze weekend since 2012, and every year – Nicky Hayden was there. Hosted on the opening weekend of the AMA Supercross schedule, A1 refers to Anaheim 1 which is the first race of the season. Because of that A1 Ride Daze is typically stacked with a who’s who of motorsports racing. And for the first year, Nicky Hayden won’t be in attendance.
However, Specialized is making sure the Kentucky Kid is there in Spirit by dedicating this year’s event to Hayden. Broken down into two days of riding, A1 Ride Daze features a road ride on Saturday, January 6th followed by a mountain bike ride on Sunday, January 7th. Both rides will feature special guests including Cal Crutchlow, Eric Bostrom, Jimmy Button, Ryan Villopoto, Johnny O’Mara, Jeremy McGrath, and more.
Custom S-Works Venge ViAS for Nicky Hayden raffle
The weekend will also serve as the opportunity to announce the winner of Nicky’s own custom S-Works Venge ViAS that has been up for raffle since October. Specialized was already building the ViAS for Hayden when he tragically passed away in a road cycling accident, so Tommy and Roger Hayden and the rest of the Hayden family thought it would be best for one of Nicky’s fans to own the bike. Partnering up with Road 2 Recovery, the raffle tickets start at $5 and all proceeds will go to the Nicky Hayden Memorial Fund.
