Last summer Kask debuted their KOO sunglasses brand with the KOO Open, a pair of wide wrap shades with a one-piece Carl Zeiss lens. Designed to fit & color coordinate with Kask’s helmets KOO has added a new half rim pair of shades to the line-up. The new KOO Open Cube keep the big, optically clear, exchangeable Zeiss lenses, but trim away the bottom half of the frame for lighter weight & better ventilation…

Ventilation is the biggest update over last year’s Open which we said to fog up a bit for some. Besides dropping the lower half of the frame the Open Cubes get extra vent channels along the sides and top where the frames wrap.

Made of polycarbonate, the sunglass frames are 100% made in Italy, while those interchangeable German Zeiss lenses. The lenses come in three new colors – infrared (for road), ultra white and red mirror (for mountain biking.) A photocromatic lens will also be available separately. They’re lightweight too, at just 30g.

The Open Cubes still get the same adjustable arms to perfectly angle the lenses, plus flexible temples for a comfy fit. Then there is the rotating/folding pivot  that lets them fold down small for storage.

They come in two frame sizes, small & medium, with Asian fit versions also available. A a soft, adjustable rubber nose piece provides a close fit, and they even come with a smaller nose bridge to adjust to a wide range of faces.

The $240/200€ Open Cubes are available in 12 colors to coordinate with Kask’s helmets, your bike or your other riding kit. They come with one premium shaded lens, plus a second clear spare for riding in low light. They’ll be available from December 2017.

Kask is still directing to Facebook for KOO info or head to Kask.com.

So the square frame glasses are called the open, and the open frame glasses are the cubes. Makes sense.
