When Kona had us out to Squamish for the launch of the new Process, it wasn’t officially announced that a carbon 29er was in the works. But you could read between the lines. If the goal was to have complete parity between wheel sizes so you could just pick a model and have the same bike in either 27.5″ or 29″, it was pretty clear that they were going to need a carbon version with 29″ wheels. And after the first peek at the Sea Otter Classic, it’s now official.

At the top end is the Process 153 CR/DL 29. A relative bargain at $5,999 with a SRAM Eagle X01 DUB drivetrain, Code RSC brakes, and RockShox suspension.

Slightly more affordable, the Process 153 CR 29 drops $1000 off the price and instead relies on a SRAM NX/GX Eagle DUB group, SRAM Guide R brakes, and also RockShox suspension but one tier down.

In a typically Kona way to launch a new bike, they’ve put together an incredible video featuring one of their star athletes, Connor Fearon, absolutely shredding the new Carbon Process 29 in Tasmania. Most of us will never look like this when we’re riding, but it’s what we want to feel like. And if the Process Carbon 29 is anything like the Process Carbon 27.5, that’s exactly what you’ll be thinking as you blast down the trails.
