You might have noticed with their recent launch of the Coyote, but Lazer is on a new path to MTB helmets. Coinciding with the hire of a new designer, their new helmets feature great looks and what they call the signature Lazer fit. That is especially true with the new Lazer Impala. Adding the head hugging fit of the Advanced Turnfit System, the helmet is ridiculously comfortable, and has great features as well.
Lazer has gained a lot of fans from their unique fit systems like Rollsys which squeeze down around your head – not just push from the back. The Impala adds a new Advanced Turnfit System or ATS which offers a similar fit, but with a rear mounted dial instead of a wheel on the top of the helmet and with horizontal and vertical adjustments. Combined with thick padding and shaping of the rear cradle, the fit is fantastic. It’s also available in Non-MIPS or MIPS versions, the latter of which integrates into the 22 vents of the helmet.
The adjustable visor also integrates with the vents with large holes on the side to allow airflow through regardless of the position. The Impala is goggle compatible with plenty of room at the front for storage, and a grippy rear section to hold the strap in place.
The helmet also includes a semi-integrated light and camera mount which fits into one of the vents and is removable. Lazer points out that the helmet has been safety tested with the mount and without to help ensure that using a light or camera won’t make the helmet less effective.
Checking in at 295g for a small, the CE/CPSC/AS certified Impala is available in S, M, and L, and sells for $119.99 without MIPS, or $139.99 with.
