Life Time is leaning hard into its fifth season of the Grand Prix, and 2026 looks like the most refined version yet. The Minnesota-based endurance juggernaut is rolling out a boosted prize purse, a more data-driven selection process, and a return of live race coverage—all while trying to keep the series’ signature balance between gravel and mountain racing intact.

The goal remains the same: to create a sustainable, professional-level platform for off-road athletes. But with $590,000 in total prize money on the table—up 55% from last year—this is no longer just a U.S. domestic series; it’s a legitimate proving ground for the best endurance racers on dirt.

The Series, The Stakes, The Schedule

The 2026 Life Time Grand Prix will feature six hallmark events, blending high-altitude mountain tests with long-haul gravel grinds. Each racer’s best five finishes will count toward the overall standings.

  • April 16Sea Otter Classic Gravel
  • May 30UNBOUND Gravel 200 presented by Shimano
  • August 15Leadville Trail 100 MTB presented by Kenetik
  • September 19Chequamegon MTB Festival
  • October 11Little Sugar MTB
  • October 17Big Sugar Gravel presented by Kenetik

After testing the waters in 2025, Life Time is sticking with live coverage for four events—Sea Otter, UNBOUND, Leadville, and Big Sugar. It’s a move that not only elevates fan engagement but gives sponsors and privateers real visibility on the world stage.

Record Purse, Real Rewards

The 2026 Grand Prix boasts a record-breaking $590,000 prize pool, with $350,000 going toward the overall standings—split evenly between men and women. Payouts now stretch through 10th place, with the overall winners each pocketing $50,000. UNBOUND and Leadville will each feature $60,000 in race-day payouts, while the remaining events keep a $30,000 purse.

A new twist this year: riders finishing outside the top ten (11th and beyond, with at least three completed races) will take home $2,500 in “pro finisher” compensation. It’s a nod to the grind of season-long racing and a way to support those who keep showing up.

A Sharper Selection

Applications open October 27 through November 5, with the 2026 roster dropping November 11. Each men’s and women’s field will cap at 25 athletes. The selection process now prioritizes data-backed performance, evaluating results from Life Time’s own events and major global off-road races such as the Cape Epic, BC Bike Race, and the UCI Gravel Worlds.

Each roster will include:

  • The top five overall finishers from 2025
  • The top U23 rider from the previous season
  • 16+ invited athletes, selected via performance review
  • Three Wild Card spots, earned post-UNBOUND

Returning for 2026, the Wild Card system (like the one that let Cam Jones in) lets late bloomers earn entry by performing well at the Sea Otter Classic and UNBOUND Gravel. It’s a clever way to keep the door open for new blood without diluting the field.

Beyond the Podium

Every Grand Prix athlete will receive free entry to all Life Time-owned events nationwide—Silver Rush 50, Crusher in the Tushar, Lutsen 99er, and more—plus access to Life Time’s network of athletic clubs for training and recovery. Coverage across Life Time’s broadcast and YouTube channels will spotlight athlete stories and season battles.

What to Look Forward To?

Between the expanded prize pool, refined selection system, and continued commitment to live coverage, the series continues to push this mix of gravel/mountain/ultra racing into a more professional era—and we’re totally here for it.

As Kimo Seymour, Life Time’s President of Media & Events, put it:

“We’ve created an unparalleled platform that both acknowledges and rewards the most dedicated and accomplished riders in the sport.”

With more money, more structure, and more visibility, 2026 looks like the year the Grand Prix fully steps into its prime.

Limiting the fields to 25 starters? That is a horrible idea IMO.
