Immagini 022Ready for some jean on jean action? That will be the case if you purchase one of these limited edition Brooks saddles and combine them with your Levi’s Commuter jeans. Yes, Brooks has teamed up with Levi’s Commuter to create a limited edition Cambium C17 with a denim covering. Last year, riders were urged to bring in their worn out jeans to Levi’s Commuter workspaces in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and London to help provide the coverings for the new saddles. Part of the idea was to use recycled denim to give it new life, which is where the donations came in. Anyone who took part in the promotion was given a coupon for 20% off Brooks and Levi’s goods, with a chance to win a saddle of their own.

Now that the denim has been collected and formed into saddles using the same vulcanization technique that was used to produce the original Cambium C17s, there are 1,000 of the custom saddles up for grabs…

Given the fact that each saddle is covered in recycled denim, every saddle made in Italy will be unique in some way. Due to the construction method, the Cambium C17 retains the same durable, waterproof, and comfortable fit of the original but with an all new look. Available now at the flagship B1866 store in London or online in the Brooks Shop, each saddle sells for £180 with an additional £12 shipping and duty to the U.S., bringing the total to right around $292. As the limited edition name would imply, once they’re gone, they’re gone – until you ruin some more jeans…

What is this? Cold War eastern bloc lust for denim?
Why would anyone want this other than for fashion? Let’s face it, denim sucks for riding and Levi’s have sucked for years. Just buy a regular cambium and let your jeans do the work for you. Considering that every one I’ve ever seen was already blued by denim dye.

I’m very happy with the Cambium saddle that I use for commuting, and it has developed a bit of a blue tinge from my jeans, but I think I’ll stick with the natural color transfer method rather than pony up more than $100 extra for the pre-dyed effect.

So my jeans clad butt will be resting on someone else’s jeans that clad a butt?

Love the idea and the look, but I picked up my C17 for 1/3rd what they want for it, so I won’t be getting one.

Maybe if I was building up a full on pron bike for sitting prettily in the hallway never to be ridden…

It is nice looking 😀

Idiotic for actual riding though.

The story here is that people actually ride bikes while wearing blue jeans.

Cambium is a very comfortable saddle, first Brooks saddle I actually liked. Heck, I even like the look of this one. But for $100 more? I don’t think so.

I’ve been riding in Levi’s 511 comutter jeans and I like it. However, not as much as my Castelli kit. 😉

can’t knock the levi’s commuters, i wear my 511’s more than any other pair of pants i own at this point. i’d be a little worried about this saddle rubbing indigo into light colored pants, assuming this is geared at cool commuter bikes. but, all the indigo that’s gonna leave the fabric has probably already done so by now. lastly, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
