The lead up to the Tour de France often inspires brands around the world to celebrate with custom products commemorating the event. LOOK isn’t passing up the opportunity with the release of a TDF edition Keo Blade pedal, and it’s not just a new paint job that makes them special.
Ceramic bearings were the first upgrade…
The latest Keo Blade update came during the Paris-Nice where Romain Bardet, of Team AG2R La Mondiale, rode them in stage 7. This upgrade comes with ceramic bearings and claims an 18% reduction in friction and a 4-6x extension of bearing life. The hand placed bearings are protected by a double sealed build that’s IPX7 and IPX6 water resistant. This previous version also came with a chromoly spindle and a carbon body giving it a set weight of 220g.
…and then came the titanium spindle
Looking to squeeze every bit of performance out of the pedals for their athletes. LOOK has swapped the chromoly spindle out for a titanium one. Ultimately, this saves 15g per pedal for a total set weight of 190g. Nine teams will be racing with the new Keo Blades during the Tour this July.
The limited edition set will have Tour de France branding and yellow designs. The release is limited to 1,700 units worldwide and will have a price tag of €290 per set. We expect to see a standard version of the Keo Blade CCT released later this year.
