Fall time means more riders chasing day-light, morning dawn patrol sessions and time to bust out the blinky lights. What’s better than a blinky light? How about two blinky lights on your pedals! LOOKs’ latest expansion of its Vision series offers a range of pedals built around one deceptively simple idea: make cyclists more visible, more often, without compromising performance.

Since its first appearance, LOOK’s Vision tech has blended lighting integration with its proven pedal platforms. For 2025, the French brand doubles down with two upgraded models — the Keo Blade Ceramic Vision and Keo 2 Max Vision — plus a Vision Upgrade Kit that adds the same light system to existing Keo Blade pedals.

Keo Blade Ceramic Vision — Aero, Ceramic, and Now, Bright

At its core, the Keo Blade Ceramic Vision is the same performance-focused pedal trusted by pros: carbon leaf spring engagement, ceramic bearings, and a stiff, stable platform for maximum power transfer. But now, LOOK adds a clever twist — an integrated 60-lumen rear light built right into the pedal body.

How visible are the lights? LOOK says the lights are visible from up to 1 km away, and we agree they are very bright, even in daylight. The lights feature four modes (Day Flash, Night Flash, Power Steady, and Steady). They’re fully waterproof (IPX7), weigh just 38 grams per pair, and deliver an impressive 40-hour runtime with a 2-hour charge via USB-C.

The integration is clean, aerodynamic, tool-free, and completely seamless. The snap-on design lets you remove or recharge the lights in seconds, without compromising the pedal’s security or balance.

The result is a lightweight setup at just 270 g per pair (230 g pedals + 38 g lights) — and a new level of safety baked into one of the fastest clipless platforms on the market.

Keo 2 Max Vision — The Everyday Performer with a Safety Upgrade

The Keo 2 Max Vision takes LOOK’s most popular endurance pedal and adds the same Vision tech seen on the Blade. It’s built for riders who want a rock-solid road pedal with solid durability

A broad 500 mm² stainless-steel platform provides stability and confident power transfer, while the oversized chromoly spindle gives long-term durability. Add in the integrated Vision lights, and you get a system that’s as visible as it is capable — a 60-lumen signal that keeps you seen from every angle, day or night.

At 300 g per pair (260 g pedals + 40 g lights), it’s lightweight enough for serious riders and tough enough for commuters who want reliability without bulk. With tool-free installation, USB-C recharging, and 180° visibility, it’s a simple solution to one of road cycling’s most overlooked safety issues.

Vision Upgrade Kit — Bring the Light to Your Existing Keo Blades

Already rolling on Keo Blades? The Keo Vision Upgrade Kit brings the same integrated rear-light system to your current pedals. The kit includes two 60-lumen modules designed specifically for the Keo Blade 4 platform, adding up to 40 hours of visibility per charge with a total weight penalty of just 38 g for the pair.

Installation takes less than two minutes — no tools required, no hassle. It’s a smart retrofit for riders who already trust their Blades but want the added peace of mind that comes with motion-based rear lights that studies show make cyclists 5.5x more visible than standard seatpost lights.

First Impressions: Keo Blade Ceramic Vision

The new Keo Blade Ceramic Vision pedals feel like the logical evolution of LOOK’s modern race tech. The Vision pedals are the same stiffness, engagement precision, and minimal weight of the Keo Blade Ceramic. Now with a safety feature you actually want.

Clipping in feels identical to the standard Blade — crisp, positive, and smooth through the stroke. Out on the road, the lights are surprisingly subtle; you don’t see them, you know they’re there, pulsing at ankle height where drivers’ eyes naturally catch motion. Even in daylight, the flash modes stand out clearly.

Charging is as straightforward as promised — pop the lights off, plug them into the USB-C cable, and they’re ready in a couple of hours. The IPX7 rating held up through a rain test, and the retention is solid — no rattles, no flicker.

At 270 g for the pair, they’re barely heavier than the standard Blades, and while $300+ pedals with built-in lights might seem niche, it’s hard not to appreciate how integrated and thoughtful the system feels. They’re the kind of tech upgrade that disappears into the ride — until the sun dips and you realize how visible your spinning heels have become. Just don’t forget to turn them on!

Take Away — LOOK Out

LOOK’s Vision series is more than a safety gimmick — it’s smart, performance-first engineering applied to a real-world problem. Whether you’re out training earily morning, commuting through traffic, or just squeezing in evening training miles, the Keo Blade Ceramic Vision, Keo 2 Max Vision, and Vision Upgrade Kit make a strong case. Be on the watch out as we put these lights through a Pittsburgh shoulder season and into the winter.

No upgrade kit for an existing pair of Keo 2 Max’s?

Not at the moment. The springs that actuate the retention lever on Keo 2 Max are quite strong, and re-assembly with an upgrade kit would require some serious effort. For now, the upgrade kit is just for the current Keo Blade series, including Keo Blade Power (2024+).

I get what they’re trying to do, and I applaud anything to make shoulder season riding safer. But I wonder what an extra 80g of rotating mass costs in terms of lost power at the crank.

Is the Vision Upgrade Kit compatible with Look Keo Blade V3 ?

Unfortunately, the V3 Keo Blade will not accept the Vision upgrade kit. The V4 pedal body design is slightly wider, and the retention lever is a little different.

I love the concept and would even consider switching from my Shimano pedals to these; however, it appears operation is from a button. You have to remember to turn them on, off, change modes. And if the batteries go dead, you won’t know.

The game changer would be motion detection and Ant+/BLE. This could allow auto on/off as well as mode changing from the bike computer automatically as it gets dark. It would also notify the user if the batteries are low.

Next version, I suppose.
