Cycling Apparel Brand, MAAP, has partnered with Protection Specialists, 100%, on limited edition colorways of the ultra lightweight 100% Hypercraft riding glasses. New colors for this season include Forest Green, Deep Purple and Bone, each designed in a series of hues to complement the pastel colorways of MAAP’s performance road apparel.
While the Hypercraft LE model is not entirely frame-less, it is ultra minimalist in its design. The TR90 frame is said to be both durable and flexible resulting in some very, very lightweight eyewear. The claimed weight? Just 23g. The design prioritizes peripheral vision with a 5.5-base cylindrical shield lens available in Grey Green, Plum or Bronze with VLT (visible light transmission) percentages of 14%, 23% and 15%, respectively. The sunglasses come with a Yellow Silver Mirror (56 VLT) lens also, which would be more appropriate for low-light, overcast conditions. All are said to offer protection from UVA, UVB and UV400 wavelengths.
The lens is also said to be scratch-resistant, and has a hydrophobic and oleophobic surface treatment that repels water, oil, and dirt.
The minimalist frame gets rubber nose pads for grip, available in both a standard and alternative-fit. The same rubber is also present on the end of each arm to help secure the sunglasses to the wearer’s temple.
