Max and TNT Sports, a division of Warner Bros. Discovery (the same people that own GCN+), have good news for riders looking for cycling coverage in peak trainer season. Starting February 2024, the Bleacher Report Sports Add-On on ‘Max’ will now provide live cycling coverage spanning road, mountain bike, track, BMX, and cyclocross.

The Max streaming service will take over where GCN+ drops off, with over 300 premiere cycling events. US viewers can now stream races like the Giro d’Italia, all UCI Mountain Bike World Series race weekends, UCI Track Champions League rounds, 53 women’s World Tour Pro Series broadcasts, the E3 Saxo Bank Classic, the Kuurne–Brussels–Kuurne, and more.

Subscribers can also access “The Breakaway,” offering English-language pre- and post-race coverage. The coverage features insights from cycling experts like two-time Tour de France winner Alberto Contador, former World Road Race champion Philippe Gilbert, 17-year ex-pro and fan favorite Jens Voigt, and 24-time Grand Tour stage winner Robbie McEwen.

For more information and to subscribe, check out Bleacherreport.com.

Update: Read Before Subscribing

Thanks to a tip from Reader Bill H., it seems that the coverage might not be as good as thought. Bill says he and three friends subscribed to Max for cycling coverage, only to find out there are no replays – just live coverage. And if you live in the United States, the time difference with many of the European races could make it a challenge to catch the live events. So if you’re thinking about subscribing, just know that it seems you’ll have to catch the live events in progress without the chance of a replay.

We’ve reached out to Max for more info.

Any news on Canada?

Were you paid to call this “Good News”? The only new that would have been worse was if there wasn’t going to be ANY way to watch in the US next year.

On the plus side for some who get MAX via AT&T U-Verse home service, but we have the top (i.e. stupidly expensive) tier of U-Verse and I just logged on to MAX to investigate and was surprised to see B-R Sports already listed.

It appears that they’re offering it for free through February, then they’re going to start charging everyone. The rate may be different through U-Verse though.

Rather stream these races illegally instead of paying for 2-4 different services to watch the races. It’s not like the athletes or teams are getting anything from the TV rights revenue anyways.

This all sounds well and good if you want to wake up early to watch the live broadcast. This morning’s very first race on Max was on at 3:30am MST and the is no replay. So how many people will watch it? GCN showed replays and on demand for weeks afterwards. Please reach out to MAX and request replays be added or we are all wasting our money, or sleep.

I contacted Max on Friday. There are now replays. Their menu is horrible so just scroll down. No info on how long a reply will be up. Womens UAE stages are all there today plus other races.

Within the Max.com website, I could search for “UAE Tour Women” and find multi-hour replays.

It looks like many others have commented on this, but no replays is a deal breaker for me. I used to watch GCN replays in the evening after work or sometimes on lunch break. I called HBO and they noted my complaint but had no timetable for adding replays. They said that since it was a new service they wanted to gauge popularity – but I imagine it’s going to be much less popular without replays.

…looks like the cycling replays are available if you search them by name. I don’t see them on the sporting event screen. Odd that the representative at the help line was not aware of that. But I guess Bleacher Report is new to them.

I subscribed to Max via Prime from the US and cannot find any cycling replays. I found Strade Branch, but all it says is event ended. I see no options for on-demand replay. Anyone seen replays available?

I did the same, subscribed through Prime and was disappointed at the minimal offerings and only live. Called Max tech support, they told me to download the Max app and use it rather than going through the Prime menu. Once you click on the Max app, it will ask for a password or a carrier that you subscribe Max through. Select “Prime”, enter your Prime password and you will have full access to all races they cover on-demand. I was able to watch Strade-Bianche one week after it was finished.
