“When you wear hi-viz jackets, people just don’t really even, look at you.” Words to live by if you need to blend in to do some, uh, filming. Everywhere you look in the city, you’ll see them – walls. Most of the time they go by relatively unnoticed, unless you have the ability to see lines where others don’t. Sebastian ‘Bas’ Keep is a madman on a BMX bike, and in his latest project (which actually went down in 2015) he searches out some of the most insane wall rides imaginable with the help of his friends, some massive ramps, and some hi-viz jackets…

That’s going to leave a mark.

Maybe they got the permits and just wanted to look like they’re outlaws, but documenting your own crimes… I guess the RedBull money covers the attorneys and fines.

It’s trespassing and impeding traffic flow at most. Hardly a major issue. A fine at most?

It’s also vandalism. I’ve had a few BMX and skate friends get ticketed for this, because of the marks left behind by wheels and trucks. Again though, totally minor issues, which surely Red Bull has the money to take care of.

or maybe its a ruse… i’m sure if I owned an ‘extreme’ish brand i may even lie about my illegal activity… no wait.. even better, ambiguity… then they will chat about it…

Nobody in BMX reaches out to get a permit.. You’re not in tune or part of the community if you would ever think otherwise. ha

The man is out of his mind! Who cares about the details.

Haha. I expected a host of comments from the bikerumor “is it carbon…” peanut gallery. As for Bas’s illegal activities, just keep that in mind the next time you practice Fred stands in a crosswalk, or run a red light.

Kudos to BR for posting BMX related footie.

I’m kind of surprised that Redbull doesn’t require the use of a helmet for all their filmed riders. Pretty soon we’re going to have kiddies wanting to emulate their favorite street riders and not wear proper protective gear while performing idiotic stunts.

Pretty soon? From what I have seen, helmets are the exception rather than the rule in BMX videos and at skateparks and dirt jumps. Flat brims and hoodies all day, son!

The skater Pedro Barros only started wearing a helmet because it was part of his Redbull contract.

“damn these kids with their hippin and their hoppin, and their grindin and their no helmetin”

Now I know why BR doesn’t cover more BMX stuff.

How did they even think about those angles. EPIC!!

Should run helmets all the time though cos all the juniors are gonna think unless you are doing epic shit you shouldnt ride safe. I guess it is population control so let them decide if they want to run helmet or not. Just sucks for the families though for such preventable head trauma.

They defo had road permits though. No way RB would be involved with illegal activities so overtly like that haha.

His bike doesn’t have Boost spacing, which makes this all even more amazing.

So kids should try this sort of stuff, but with a helmet on? What? If kids try to do these exact stunts, then whether or not they are wearing a helmet is quite trivial. I’ll never understand why so many people believe that helmets can defy physics. Anyway, those were some epic stunts and I’m glad that some people are crazy enough to do stuff like this. I’ll leave it up to them to decide what level of risk is appropriate and what safety gear to use.

As someone who got into “cycling” through BMX in the late 80s, I love keeping up with the progression of riding. I totally respect how these guys are pushing what’s possible on a bike. For everyone who’s worried about the “crimes” and “helmet” issues- relax. Choose to live your life in the manor you are comfortable with. I’m sure some people thing you are crazy for things you do as well. As far as video taping crimes, I don’t really see any victims here.
