Due to rain delays, the Redbull Rampage finals were postponed till Monday, which meant productivity for mountain bikers was at an all time low during the live stream of the event. For those of you who were actually diligently working, we’ve rounded up the POV footage of three of the best runs (and will continue to update with more as Redbull uploads them).
Up first is Brett Rheeder. This Canadian phenom was oh so close to stealing the show from Brandon Semenuk at the Crankworx slopestyle event earlier this year, and came out charging in Virgin, Utah. His combination of tech, big air, and huge tricks was breathtaking, yet only good enough for 5th place.
Drop past the break to see what previous winner Cam Zink and this years champ threw down.
During the Rampage event in 2010, Cam Zink threw a 360 off a forty foot wood ramp to cinch the win. Since throwing the biggest 360 in history, Zink has also added the worlds longest backflip to his resume.
How did he raise the bar? With an insanely steep and technical drop in, followed by another legendary 360. Hot damn.
Everyone knows that Norbs got robbed once upon a time, but few remember just how hard Andreu Lacondeguy kills every time he drops in. In past Rampage events his riding has been characterized by speed, flow, tech, and huge tricks. Basically, all the elements required to win, so it was really a matter of time before he made it to the top spot on the podium.
Special thanks to Redbull for the incredible coverage of the event. Between the live streaming and videos of Rampage and the World Cup this year, I’m almost convinced I should chug an energy drink once in a while….if only to support the awesome stuff they sponsor.
