If you don’t have a fancy Garmin or Polar computer unit but want to track your workouts, everything you need may be right in your pocket. SportyPal, a new mobile applications that works on any GPS-enabled phone, can track your position, movement, distance, and tempo as you ride, and allows you to upload to data directly to the web, and even share on Twitter or Facebook.
The program uses GPS data to track your progress, then saves the data on your phone so you can retrieve it later, and upload it to the web if you choose. Best of all? It’s free. The application can be downloaded on their website, and the software is compatible with Android, Blackberry, iPhone, Java, Symbian, and Windows Mobile platforms. If your phone has a GPS feature and can download third party software, it should be able to run. The program is also available through the Apple mobile store and the Android market.
You can check your phone’s compatibility and download software on their website here. Visit the site from your mobile or download to your PC or Mac if your phone is USB compatible.
