Whether sitting roadside waiting for the Tour de France to pass you by, or sitting on the couch at home, you may find yourself needing something sharp when you need a snack. Opinel just happens to make some fantastic & reasonably-priced folding knives perfect for the task. And now they even have some new special editions to commemorate the 2022 Tour de France – something they’ve been doing for a few years now…

Opinel Tour de France edition knives

Opinel TDF limited edition no. 08 knives

Like other Opinel N°08 knives, these special editions feature a wooden handle with a folding blade that locks into place with a simple twist of the metal collar. Made in France and designed in collaboration with Manivelle, there are two different versions called “Les Maillots” and “Landmarks”

Opinel TDF knife

Les Maillots features artwork inspired by the leader’s jerseys of the Tour de France, with yellow for the leader, polka dots for the best climber, and green for the best sprinter. The knife features a Hornbeam handle and wrap-around sublimated graphics. which is why it is the more expensive of the two at $55.

Opinel Landmarks knife TDF 2022

Landmarks features a stylized interpretation of iconic images of the Tour – the Arc de Triomphe, Mont Ventoux, water, rain, and mist. Built with a classic Beechwood handle with a yellow lanyard, this one is priced at just $29.

Both knives feature a 8.5cm/3.28″ blade length made from Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel, with an overall length of 19.5cm/7.59″. Speaking from experience, the Opinel No. 08 makes a perfect addition to your touring or bikepacking kit, and with Father’s Day just around the corner it could be a handy gift idea for the cycling-obsessed Dad in your life. Just saying.
