As much as we see road, and even gravel bikes starting to look more & more similar, Orbea offers a way to stand out with their MyO paint job and build spec customizer. MyO isn’t new, but Orbea have just added their carbon Avant disc brake endurance road bike, making for nine different bike platforms that can now me customized.
Orbea Avant endurance road bike goes MyO custom
The Avant is Orbea’s lightweight carbon endurance road bike. Its hi-mod mix OMP (Orbea Monocoque Performance) carbon construction offers a bit more rider comfort that the OMR (R for Race) of the Orcas, while still delivering on efficiency.
Endurance Geometry
Likewise, it features endurance geometry for long days out on the road – available in seven sizes (47-60cm).
Tech details
The <1000g Avant features a 1.5″ tapered steer, BB386 bottom bracket, 27.2mm seatpost, internal cable routing, flat mount disc brakes & 12mm thru-axles. The bike is rated for proper clearance with 30mm road tires on modern wide rims, but Orbea says that riders in dry climates can likely fit even wider rubber.
MyO online customizer
Included in the regular $1700 / 1600€ frameset price, you can now get the carbon Avant endurance road bike painted in the colors of your choice, even with you name on the toptube. Just run through the online tool, picking the look you’re going for, and about 4 or 5 weeks later Orbea will have a customized bike ready at your local dealer.
The MyO customizer is limited to Orbea’s top bikes, including the enduro Rallon, the trail Occam, XC Alma, gravel Terra, the Orca & Orca Aero road, e-road Gain, tri Ordu, and now the endurance Avant. Most lines get a couple of models which give you options to upgrade pretty much every component on the core spec. The Avant offers MyO in the two top specs – the 2950€ M20Team-D with Ultegra mechanical & the 2550€ M30Team-D with 105.
Customizing the paint scheme does add to the price of the complete bikes – about $325 / 250€ / £225 (included in those prices above). But equally as important, when you pay that extra to custom paint the bike, you also get to pick the gearing you want and the sizing of your cranks, handlebar, stem & seatpost offset.
