With distinct designs, Prime’s lightweight carbon Thunderflash enduro and Rocket downhill bikes have still managed to fly under the radar for the past few years. But ever since we were fully introduced to these two bikes back in 2021, I’ve been keeping an eye out for them at trail centers and bikeparks. But now with a few key design & spec updates, especially important for the more versatile 29er enduro bike, adds future-proof UDH compatibility, modern T-Type builds, and a killer new raw carbon look…
2025 Prime Thunderflash enduro & Rocket DH updates

Prime turns two decades of top-tier UCI gravity mountain bike racing experience into pro-level carbon bikes that amateur riders can actually afford… mostly. They aren’t exactly cheap, and 2025 complete builds are now electronic-only with premium suspension, which doesn’t help keep costs down. But there’s still a reasonable frameset option if you want to keep more to a budget.
But these race-ready carbon enduro and DH bikes pack a lot of value. Plus, they are quite a small company, so a great option if you are looking to build a unique shredder.
What’s new since we last checked in?

Functionally, it’s just an upgrade to UDH for the 2025 Prime Thunderflash. That’s a small but welcome update in these days of T-type electronic SRAM Transmission derailleurs and teases of mechanical SRAM and direct mount Shimano options coming on the regular.

But both the Thunderflash and Rocket now also add a new raw carbon finish, no longer hiding the structure of their carbon tubing and saving a few grams in the meantime. In fact, the raw look with a durable glossy clearcoat is now the default finish for all new 2025 complete bike builds and framesets. So it looks like the only way to get one of the unique splatter-paint finishes is with remaining stock of of the outgoing 2024 builds.
