This week saw the opening party for Rapha clothing’s cycle club on London’s Clerkenwell Road.

Not so much a traditional CC as a pop-up shop, they’re taking over a prime piece of space on the hipster highway as  a showroom for their clothing, Rouleur books and various art exhibitions and film screenings.

The space opens to the public tomorrow, Saturday 8 May, but opening night highlights for me included a first look at the new Great Road Climbs of the Southern Alps, by Graeme Fife and Camille J. McMillan and Michael Barry’s Le Métier, a beautiful book laying bare the life of a pro cyclist.

Later in the shop’s three-month lifespan, they’ll be showing specially commissioned films about Johan Museeuw and Dario Pegoretti, hosting exhibitions dedicated to Fausto Coppi and to the centenary of the Tourmalet’s appearance in the Tour de France, as well as showing live cycling on their big screens.

To top it off, coffee and refreshments are provided by Nude Espresso, one of London’s best coffee shops.

Stay tuned to BikeRumor.com for details of a New York Cycle Club opening up later in the summer.
