Ever see the Red Bull Minidrome? No? Well check out the Youtube video below, or the arty effort on Vimeo, which we can’t embed here.
It made its New Zealand debut earlier this year, but it’s coming to London on January 15 2011. Red Bull is taking over York Hall, at the eastern end of the Hipster Highway, for a day of individual pursuit racing.
While the company’s claims of 80kph seem exaggerated – at 24.5m long, it’s mostly bend, and some of the riders below have trouble even staying on – it’ll be sure to challenge mind and body as they say. There’ll be free entry to the event, though the organizers will be recommending a donation to Herne Hill velodrome.
Up to 100 riders will get the chance to race, but pre-registration will be essential – either on the Red Bull website or at 14 Bike Co., Tokyo Fixed Gear, Look Mum No Hands and Brick Lane Bikes.
