When the crew at Resolute Bay set out to create a new cycling jacket, they had three major concerns with existing designs. They didn’t want something with tons of in your face branding, “super techie robotic looking fabric”, or big silver reflective panels or piping. Instead, they wanted to create something that provided plenty of visibility at night, but still looked like a normal jacket during the day – on or off the bike.

Their answer is the LS2 Reflective Cycling Jacket. An unobtrusive, 100% waterproof jacket by day, and a 360° reflective safety piece by night.

Built using a 3 layer laminated fabric with a 10,000mm waterproof rating, the outer face fabric is woven with a 3M Scotchlite reflective thread that allows the jacket to pop at night, but blend in during the day. Additional details include a detachable hood, YKK aqua-guard zippers, multiple pockets, and rear ventilation.

Features:

  • Detachable hood
  • Adjustable toggle collar to keep the rain out
  • YKK aqua-guard front zip
  • Micro fleece on the back-neck collar
  • Bonded locker loop
  • x2 concealed side pockets
  • x1 concealed back pocket
  • x1 Internal chest pocket
  • Underarm zip vents
  • Large back vent for additional breathability
  • Articulated shoulder + arms for a comfortable ride
  • Velcro cuff straps
  • Dropped back hem
  • Adjustable hem toggles
  • No batteries required

Currently on offer through a Kickstarter campaign, the jacket would add to the company’s existing portfolio of cycling specific jeans and merino wool t-shirts. Available in orange, black, or grey, there are still a few Early Bird deals left which will get you a jacket at about $134 which will be about half of the retail price. Delivery is expected in October.

I am not sure of the benefit if you block 90% of the reflective properties with a huge backpack.

Side visibility would still be pretty good.

Because nothing stands out better in an urban environment than gray…

Nice details, there is some advantage compared to the Sugoi ZAP jacket.
