There are plenty of stick-on vinyl options to safeguard your paint job, but Restrap’s new Bicycle Protection Kit adds a simple bikepacking-specific touch with topographic inspiration. Developed to prevent damage to your bike’s finish from the constant rubbing of dirty pack straps, the low-cost clear protection sticker set will also protect against normal cable rub & chainslap, too…

Restrap Bicycle Protection Kit anti-abrasion bikepacking contour decals, installationAs a frequent, short-trip bikepacker I’ll often strap on a full set of bikepacking bags, and take them off soon after my ride. But riding off-road in pretty much any weather does mean that pretty much any bikepacking bag setup I use is likely to end up wet & dirty. And wet and dirty bikepacking bag straps invariably mean scratched bike finishes.

I certainly wouldn’t be too particular on scuffing the raw finish on this titanium Enigma Escape gravel bike. But if you have a painted steel, alloy, ti, or carbon bike, a bit of frame protection between pack straps & the frame is often warranted. A lot of adventure riders simply wrap their frames with black vinyl electrical tape, but Restrap has a better-looking solution that really won’t cost you much more.

OK, Komoot isn’t actually integrated into the stick-on Bicycle Protection Kit. And you’d have to buy eight sticker kits to qualify, but… Restrap recognizes that many of us are cooped up at home, dreaming of riding somewhere new once restrictions lift & safe travel returns. So, if you spend over £100/€100/$100 including any combination of the kit from their webshop, Restrap will give you a FREE Komoot region bundle code worth £9. That will let you plan routes in a new locale.

Restrap also compiled a route catalogue for inspiration on cool places to start.

Ti will still scuff if you add dirt to the bag straps, especially wet dirt that turns into a grinding paste.
