A few weeks ago, I made my first trip in years back up to Ray’s Mountain Bike Park in Cleveland, Ohio. It was a bit of an emotional trip for me as it was my first time back in three years since the injury that almost changed my riding for the rest of my life.
But as we walked in the door, my thoughts instantly shifted to how Ray’s MTB founder Ray Petro was doing after a serious crash earlier this year. Hearing that he was making some big improvements was the highlight of the trip. The video update below comes to us from Ray’s Facebook page and is thanks to Jeff Lenosky and Russell Lee.
Obviously, Ray still has a long way to go, but his progress is encouraging. Thanks to fundraisers like the #rideforray t-shirts and stickers (stickers can still be purchased at the park), and the GoFundMe page, Ray has seen a tremendous amount of support. But as the injuries go, the amount of medical care and physical therapy needed is staggering meaning he could still use our help. As someone who has constantly given back to the MTB community, if there’s anyone deserving of it, it’s Ray.
Donations can still be made through the GoFundMe page here.
