A new Ridley Falcn follows the RS to make performance 40% more affordable in another tier of carbon for this race-ready aero all-rounder road bike. With the same frame & fork aerodynamics, Ridley calls the new Falcn “an unmatched price-quality ratio“, bringing that familiar mix of aero Noah speed and almost Helium lightweight, only sacrificing a couple hundred grams to save several thousand euros!

This new Ridley Falcn takes everything we learned from last summer’s Falcn RS launch – a modern race bike can be both lightweight AND aero. The “best of both worlds“. And it delivers the same in a much more affordable and only slightly heavier carbon frameset. Like seriously, at a claimed 990g for a medium frame, this is only 165g more than the racing sport Falcn RS model, and with almost exactly the same aerodynamic performance.

What’s new?

A switch to Essential-level hi-mod carbon for the Falcn vs. the Elite-series carbon of the Falcn RS frame is the most obvious switch. And Ridley still manages to keep the more basic Falcn frame under 1kg. But at the same time, this new Falcn swaps out the proprietary D-shaped aero seatpost of the RS for a conventional and more universal-fit round seatpost. Sure that cuts into aerodynamic gains to a tiny extent, but likely will make many riders happy with more standard seatpost options.

Another notable nod to compatibility, this one is ready for 2x mechanical or electronic shift groupsets!

Tech details

The new Falcn carries over the identical aero tech of the RS – think fully integrated cable routing through the headset, the diffuser fork crow to smooth airflow over the downtube, dropped seatstays, and aerodynamic tube shaping. Plus, it also gets the UDH for max drivetrain compatibility, and 34mm max tire clearance to fit bigger tires for more grip, comfort, control, and reduced rolling resistance.

Geometry is identical as well, so the bike is race-ready. But Ridley recognizes that the buyers of this standard carbon layup Falcn will be more likely to pick from wider tires and lower pressures, which help push the bike more into the endurance road segment, without sacrificing its racing performance heritage and snappy ride feel.

They call the new Falcn “a no-brainer for the performance-oriented endurance athlete“.
