Some interesting items have found their way out of the wood works including Lenkr’s simple walnut handlebar with a couple of unique features. Also the Snēk Anvil bag lets you put everything in one place so you can grab & go, plus Slip’s plant-based lube and a stem with a built in light that keeps your bars clean…

The Lenkr Wooden Handlebar Kickstarter is for a bar that has a classy wooden outside but has an aluminum core to keep it sturdy as well as hold the end-caps which are available in black or silver. Their Type-A” is a 31.8mm bar but they also have the “Type B” bar which is 25.4mm if you have a classic bike looking for some simplistic style. I don’t know how comfortable a straight bar would be on the wrists, but given that it only comes in hipster width, it might not actually be that bad.

The Snēk Vital bag has room for just about anything you need in case something goes wrong on about any ride. Built with room to spare for things including up to an iPhone6 (or similar size communication devices) that fits into its own water-resistant compartment.

The Vital bag is designed to use how you choose. It folds and zips up into a regular seat bag, but can also just as easily fit into a jersey pocket.

It even comes with their cool “lifeboat” tire lever that will also tighten a valve core down in case it comes loose during a ride (been there). You can get just the bag and a tire lever, but there are options that include the case, allen tools, 2 Lifeboat tire levers, and a Genuine Innovations inflator & Co2 cartridge.

Slip lube on rock

Slip Eco Lube is kicking things off with a plant based lube that is better for the environment. Slip is a plant based lube that is good on your chain as well as just about anything else around the home or office that squeaks.

Slip Lube is free of PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene), which is found in many lubes and produces a carcinogen when made. They claim that the lube will last in excess of 125 miles between applications on a bike chain so it may not be considered a “top performer”, but that isn’t the goal here. Slip Lube even comes in a recyclable bottle to make it 100% biodegradable.

Lumineer bike light

The Lumineer 300 lumen stem light kickstarter is by the same person that brought us the Kranium cardboard helmet. The 300 lumen light is integrated into the stem for a clean and simple look.

The Lumineer stem has a push button lens that offers various flashing modes including a constant beam. The light is USB rechargeable and will last between 4 and 70 hours depending on the mode. For the first 200 investors, they are offering custom engraving and colors to match your bike. They even have a stretch goal that if met will allow them to produce a limited number of titanium stems.

“Classic bike” = 25.4 stem? I thought it meant electrically-assisted?

Handlebars with zero sweep are comfortable for about zero minutes. I wonder if they’ve been tested at all.

Slick looking stem light! But some angle offset would be nice so it could point slightly downwards (and not up). Pairing a custom faceplate with a commonly available stem would also help, so riders have some choice of length and rise.

I want to like that stem. Is the light adjustable for different head angles? They really need an actual knowledgeable cyclist on their team. What does this even mean? (from their Kickstarter)

“The Lumineer comes in two sizes : 22-26mm as well as 31-33mm.This would mean that the Lumineers fits almost all bikes may it be Road or Cyclocross or MTB (Mountain Bike) or Retro or Electric.”

I’m not a fan of the negativity in the comments on this website but come on, can companies stop making lights that don’t have cut off horizontal beam ! That stem light is one of the dumbest ideas I’ve seen on here and has to have been made by someone that has never ridden a bike at night.

Lubes likes this make me think of the recent FireClean fiasco.

The stem light is interesting, but I too am curious how the beam angle is in both a positive and negative stem angle. Because it looks like from the side profile pictures on the kickstarter that the light points up when the stem is at a positive angle, which would make it the most useless (and infuriating for anyone you’re aimed at) light i’ve seen in a while.

I went to the lights Kickstarter and their is a major lack of cycling related pertinent info. No stem length or rise options? How long is that stem? Looks like 120mm but there is no C-C measurement. Its like they designed a stem but forgot what a stem does.
