If you have a Moloko bar on your bike and need a place to stash your… snacks, you’ll soon be in luck. As the newest addition to the Surly parts and accessories line up, the Moloko Adjunct Personal Effect Receptacle (or bag) is designed to fit the bag shaped hole on your handlebars. Which should be a handy place to keep things within reach on your next ride…
Fitted with four silicone backed straps that can be adjusted for the best fit, Surly says that their bag is designed for the Moloko but it should also fit the Jones Loop H Bars as well. Made out of urethane coated nylon canvas, the inside of the bag has a high viz lining to make it easier to find the contents, and an elastic cord on the top for stuffing various items. Measuring 254 x 90 x 90mm the bag should fit about two 12 oz cans or many snacks, camera, phone, etc. There’s also an integrated light port so you can stash a battery pack inside the bag and the wire can pass through the bag to the light on the bar. Pricing is $60, available this Fall.
If you don’t already have a Moloko bar, you’ll be getting one if you purchase the new Surly Troll.
Other than the change in handlebars and the new Pea Lime Pie Soup color (along with gloss black), the Troll is still the Gnot-Boost spaced 26 x 3.0″ world tourer it’s been in the past. That means it’s compatible with 142 x 12mm, 148 x 12mm, and 135mm spaced hubs which should make it easier to find a spare in the middle of nowhere. As shown, the Troll sells for $1,699.
Not much changes on the Karate Monkey, though there is a new option for black as a complete in 27+ or as a frameset. Complete Karate Monkey 27+ builds will sell for $1499 with a SRAM NX 1 drivetrain.
More color changes, this time for the Long Haul Trucker. Affectionately named Grandpa’s Thermos, the bike includes the option of their new kickstand plate and clearance for 700 x 42mm tires with fenders, or 45mm without as well as clearance for 26 x 2.1″ with or without fenders. The LHT sells $1,275.
The ECR also sees some updates and is now available in 27+ or 29+, both in Blacktacular or Beigh Pantsuit. Now running Gnot-Boost spacing, the bike has been updated to build it up out of the box, load it up with all your possessions, and hit the trail at $1,899.
