brooks-cambium-denim-Limited-edition-saddleFor a limited time this summer, Brooks England and Levi’s have teamed up to produce a Denim version of the Cambium saddle. In lieu of the traditional leather and spring design, the Cambium model uses a soft rubber base covered in organic cotton, to replicate that famous Brooke ride at a lower price point.

This Denim edition will only be available this summer at Levi’s Commuter Workspace stores in Brooklyn, Los Angeles and London, and at the Brooks online store in October.

If you bring clean used denim to one of the three Levi’s Commuter stores, the company will re-use the material to manufacturer saddle, and give you a coupon good for 20% off any Levi’s Commuter or Brook’s Products, plus you’ll be entered in a contest to win one of the saddles.

Full press release and teaser video after the break

Levi’s® Commuter™ is partnering with Brooks England to produce a special bike saddle manufactured from recycled Levi’s® denim. The saddle will be a Limited Edition version of Brooks’ newest product, the Cambium C17, which uses vulcanized rubber pressing techniques to create a comfortable, waterproof, and long-lasting saddle whose features align with the performance benefits of the Levi’s® Commuter™ collection. Teams from Levi’s® Commuter™ and Brooks England are taking this opportunity to work together to create a product of unique beauty and utility.

This July and August, the first 60 Cambium Denim saddles are available exclusively at Levi’s® Commuter™ Workspaces.
The public is invited to bring their clean used denim to one of the three Commuter™ Workspace locations. These jeans will be re-used to manufacture as many saddles as possible. Those who donate their used denim will receive 20% off Commuter™ products at www.levi.com, a 20% discount at www.brooksengland.com, and a chance to win one of the Limited Edition saddles.

The Levi’s® Commuter™ Workspace is a creative hub, gathering place, and community resource center, opening up this summer in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and London. The first Commuter™ Workspace opens its doors at 7pm on 8 July, 2014 at 261 Metropolitan Avenue in Brooklyn where the first denim collection will take place.

No commuter stores in SF, Levi’s HQ city? Even though SF is a lot smaller than LA, bet there’s a lot more bike commuters in SF.

@hair. According to bikeleague.org, its about the same number of commuters.

17.2K in LA and 16.9 in SF.

The cambiums already use a cotton canvas covering. This is not that much different, just much cooler.

As a side note, I wouldn’t call the Cambium their ‘lower price point’ saddle, since it’s actually a fair bit more expensive than a standard B17. They’re definitely nice, though.

What’s the chance of getting your own denim on the saddle?
