Sidi Sixty continues the Italian shoemaker’s celebration of 60 years with more understated road cycling shoes… Haha, just kidding! Now they are trying to upstage even the flashiness of their recent python print, synthetic snakeskin Sixties, with this shiny new Gold limited edition. All the same new lightweight Sixty road shoe tech is there, just now you get to pick the same look that Colombian pro & Tour winner Egan Bernal singled out of the line-up…
Sidi Sixty Gold limited edition carbon road cycling shoes
We got a first tease of the Gold shoes when 2019 Tour de France winner Egan Bernal pulled them on in the teaser video for the new lightweight Sixty road shoes back in December.
But at the time, they were thought to be a special edition for him only. However, now it seems they are available starting this month in limited quantities through your local bike shop – for those looking to make a statement out on the road.
The Gold edition shoes are printed with a dot fade & subtle line pattern over the entire perforated TechPro synthetic microfiber upper to give them a unique look, almost as if they were gold-leafed by hand. Again, Sidi hasn’t commented on just how “limited” this edition will be, but the Gold shoes still share the same 340-350€ price as all other color options.
Sixty – Tech details
Underneath the shiny finish, the Sixty Gold shoes feature all of the exact same tech details of the rest of the new top-tier, lightweight Sixty road cycling shoes that Sidi launched last December – weighing approximately 260g per shoe (size 42.5). That means the light & stiff full 3K carbon Vent Carbon Sole that it inherited from the more expensive Shot puts the power down, with replaceable tread blocks and several ventilation openings (including the adjustable open/close vent at the toe.)
It also gets the same simplified upper design with a single Sidi Tecno-4 Push dial closure centered at the top of the tongue, the locking toothed velcro strap across the forefoot, and a pared-down plastic cup to secure your heel, plus small mesh vents at the toe & ankle. All of that promises pro-level stiffness and performance in a competitively light shoe, and proven Sidi fit (half sizes from 38-47, plus 48).
