Sneak Peek: Twin Six Standard Rando Ti 2.0 updated adventure touring gravel bike coming soon!

Twin Six’s premium do-it-all Standard Rando Ti gravel & touring bike is about to get a modern randonneur update. Set to drop in just two days, Twin Six will offer special pricing for a very limited time from the start of 2021. Twin Six Standard Rando Ti 2.0 adventure gravel & touring bike update

The entire Standard Rando family is Twin Six’s answer to the versatile drop bar, ride-anything bike. Debuting way back in 2014, the clothing company’s Rando bike could be described as a randonneur, touring, road-plus, all-road, gravel, or probably even an adventure bikepacking bike. In any case, these bikes have been developed to make it affordable to get a capable drop bar bike with no limits.

The steel version got its update last spring. And now after five years the titanium do-it-all randonneur is getting is own overhaul, including similarly discounted pre-order pricing.

What’s new in version 2.0?

The most visually obvious update is the new gently curved toptube, but it’s the modern standards that bring the biggest updates to the Standard Rando Ti 2.0. The ti frame now gets modern 12mm thru-axles and 142mm rear spacing, plus flat mount disc brakes. That update comes via the same replaceable T6 Middle Finger alloy dropout system that debuted last year on the steel Rando, also offering a replaceable rear derailleur hanger and optional hangerless single speed dropout.

The new titanium frame also adds more mounts, specifically a set of direct-mount toptube bento bosses, plus 3-pack anything cage mounts & fender mounting on the new carbon fork. Add that to three carryover pairs of cage bosses inside the main triangle and a 4th under the downtube, plus rear rack & fender mounts.

The new frame also gets a new chainstay yoke to improve both chainring & tire clearance. No official spec is listed yet, but there’s surely more space than the 700x43mm/650x47mm clearance of the old frame.

What carries over?

The 3/2.5 wishbone stay Standard Rando Ti still features external cable routing with modular clamps on the bottom of the downtube. Add in the round seat tube and the additional clearance from the chainstay yoke, and you can mount a front derailleur for a road compact double setup as well.

The bike gets a PF30 bottom bracket, a 31.6mm seatpost with conventional collar (dropper seatpost, anyone?), a straight 44mm headtube to fit a tapered steerer fork with an external lower headset bearing (or straight 1 1/8″ fork with internal cup), and is expected to come in the same five size (51-59cm) range as before.

Twin Six Standard Rando Ti 2.0 – Pricing & availability

Now you just have to wait. Twin Six says the new Standard Rando Ti gravel bike goes on sale January 1, 2021. Pricing hasn’t been officially released, but for a “limited-time-only” it will be offered at a “super-discounted pre-order price”. On the $700 steel frameset that meant $100 off. The outgoing ti frameset sells for twice that. We’ll update here once pricing is announced.

Twin Six will make the new bike available both as a frameset with headset & carbon fork options, or in a complete bike build as well, likely similar to the Force 1x spec shown here.
