Introducing their first mountain specific stem and adding to their current MTB bar line up, 3T introduced a new line of MTB components at Sea Otter. Thanks to names like Prime and Square, the new offerings will have a mathematical theme, and a naming structure that is number based. The Prime 9’74 for instance, has a 9 degree back sweep and is 740mm wide.
3T is also introducing a new logo structure to differentiate their MTB and road products – the MTB gets a triangle, while the road will be a circle. These graphics aren’t 100 percent correct, but they give an idea of what to expect. Their new mountain bike stem will be called the Square, though it wasn’t on display. Square will be offered in a 10 degree option with sizes starting as small as 55mm.
The mountain line will also include a new seat post, the Sum (keeping with the math theme). Sum will be offered in 27.2 and 31.6 diameters with 350 and 420mm lengths and will use the same Diff Lock mechanism offered in their high end road posts. Diff lock is a splined clamp system that allows for saddle angle adjustments as small as 0.5mm and will not slip.
On the road side of things, 3T added another drop bar to the line up in the form of the Tornova.
The new Tornova is the result of consumers wanting the ergo flat top of the Ergonova handlebar, but with the traditional drop of the Rotundo bar instead of the shallow drop. Available in Pro, Team, and LTD models it will be offered in 7050 alloy, carbon fiber, and HM carbon respectively. Built with an 83mm reach and 139mm drop, it is identical to the Rotundo. Both carbon bars feature a stepped down portion above the shifter clamp making a perfectly flat transition from the shifter to the bar.
On the scale, the Tornova Team came in a 205g.
