661 has been steadily revamping their line up for awhile now, and their latest products look like welcome additions. On the helmet side, 661 will be replacing the Recon with the Evo AM Patrol. Sitting just under the current Evo AM/Evo AM MIPS, the Patrol model brings the style of their top tier helmet down to a more reasonable price.
Along with the new lid, 661 was also showing off a revised version of their Filter shoe in both flat and SPD compatible…
Utilizing the same shell as their current Evo AM, the Patrol will come in the same three shell sizes (XS/S 54cm-56cm, M/L 57cm-59cm, XL/XXL 60cm-62cm). That includes the 15 vents, in-mold construction, and extended coverage for the back of the head.
While the helmet will still make use of the Boa 360 fit system, the helmet sheds the Fidlock magnetic closure and goes with a standard liner and EPS foam to bring the price down to $109 with a MIPS version to be offered at $139. The visor is adjustable with a two position snap system.
For footwear, the Filter shoe sees another update with a slimmer, less bulky shape. According to 661 the shoe is an impressive 150g lighter for the flat and 170g lighter for the SPD model which are separate models. Now with softer rubber on the soles (and even softer rubber for the flat version), the new Filter includes a highly padded heel cup to help keep your foot in place without over-tightening the shoe, and a molded toe cap for improved durability. The SPD model adds a velcro compression strap and will ship without the rubber plug in the sole as shown in the picture. Available in both colors, the flats will sell for $99 while the SPDs will sell for $109.
Not quite as new, the latest addition to the padding line up comes in the Recon elbow and knee pads. Designed to compete with other light weight pad sets, the Recons use an XRD foam which stiffens on impact to provide a high level of protection for such a flexible material. The knee pads feature a rear strap and open cut out behind the knee as well as the 661 Padlock system to attach them to other 661 gear. The knee pads are available now, while the elbow will be offered in May, both for $59.99.
