What has two clips in the middle and nothing on the sides? That would be these wild looking new bibs from Funkier clothing. Turning bib design upside down, the Matera Pad F1 is a new take on bib strap design which looks… interesting. Funkier swears it’s comfortable and that you can’t feel the two buckles – and who knows, maybe it would have saved Tom Dumoulin some precious time during his emergency bathroom break on Stage 16 of the Giro…
Instead of a standard strap arrangement, the Matera Pad F1 bib uses a detachable mesh yoke up top, with a clip front and rear to attach it to the shorts. Priced at $129.95, the shorts use an Italian high density foam chamois, and four way stretch lycra for a performance fit.
The Matera bib joins a number of new products as Funkier relaunches with Active, Pro, and Elite product lines.
Along with their new branding, BOA was on hand as usual to swap out dials in favor of custom colored units to give your shoes some pop. You can find the BOA crew at more events around the globe this year where they’ll swap out your dials and make sure they’re running smoothly, all free of charge.

POC also had their Octal X on display which is in stores now for $260, along with the Tectal. Both are loaded with features including the Recco Locator chip which may just help get you located in case of a backcountry emergency now that the Recco locating technology is becoming more common place. Apparel has also been redesigned with a new Resistance line for DH, XC, and Enduro with unique pieces for each.
While the details of the new Kali Shiva 2.0 helmet are out now, we got our first look at the new lid in the parking lot at Sea Otter. After running into Patrick from Kali, he pulled out the new Shiva to show off its new look. More important than the looks however are the new safety technologies like their LDL (Low Density Layer) and Nano Fushion in-molding technology that should make the helmet safer and lighter than ever.
