With wheels for road, triathlon, and mountain biking, you may have noticed that Fulcrum’s ‘gravel’ category on their website is suspiciously empty. That’s because it will soon include their newest wheelset – the Zero DB gravel. Using many of the same technologies that make Fulcrum/Campagnolo wheels top notch, the dirt road crowd will soon have true tubeless option in the form of the Zero DB.
Thanks to their Mo-Mag system, the Zero DB rims offer true tubeless compatibility meaning the rim has zero holes except for the valve hole. The design also allows the wheels to be built with traditional threaded spokes and nipples, though they are specific to Fulcrum. How is this possible? The nipples (which are magnetic) are inserted through the valve hole, then guided to each spoke hole by a magnet on the outside of the rim. That allows the nipples to be replaced if damaged, and essentially for the wheels to be built in a traditional way. These rims in particular have a 19mm internal width.
The straight pull spokes mate up to AFS centerlock or six bolt hubs that are compatible with QR 135 or 12 x 142mm thru axles in the rear and QR, 12mm, or 15mm thru axles in the front. Available with USB ceramic bearings, the wheels have a claimed weight of 1590g and will be available later this month.
