The inaugural Southern Spokes Bicycle Summit will be held this August 10-12 at Lake Norman State Park in Troutman, NC. Presented by Bike Shop Girl, this weekend event of riding, camping, demo-ing, and a general meeting of like-minded cycling folk aims to re-create that festival-like atmosphere and camaraderie you feel at bike races – without the races.
Highlights include: Friday’s dinner and meet-and-greet at the Museum Of Mountain Bike Art & Technology in nearby Statesville, NC; vendor expo Saturday with bike demos from Surly Bikes and Salsa Cycles; dinner, a movie, and a raffle on Saturday night; and scavenger hunts (includes one for the kiddos) on Sunday.
Passes are limited to 110 people for the full weekend event plus camping – $35 per person 10 years old and up, no pass required for children 9 and younger. If you just want to join in on Saturday for the expo, rides, dinner and movie it’s $15. Register here now before they sell out! Bike companies, interested in getting in on the Expo? Just $50! (Contact Bike Shop Girl for more info.) All proceeds from the weekend will go to local Trips For Kids and SORBA chapters.
