Whether that means mountain bikers with more of a cruising attitude, long-distance trekking riders, or even city commuters and ebikers, these 3 new bar shapes provide uncompromising comfortable hand positions for a wide range of cyclists…
SQlab Comfort-series ergonomic MTB handlebar
Cockpit innovation doesn’t always have to mean fully-integrated cables and super high prices. SQlab is also bringing better fit and durability to the average biker, too. Their new 3 new comfort-oriented flat bars aren’t really flat, instead mixing up several of the more dramatic riser shape & backsweep we’re used to seeing on mountain bike bars, combined with shapes you often see in more alt-bars.
All 3 SQlab Comfort bars share 3 ergonomic features: high rise for upright riding positions, generous backsweep for more comfortable wrist angles, and varying downsweep for more natural elbow position and reduced neck & shoulder tension.
Just like my yogi tells me to drop my shoulders back & down to release tension…
310 mid-rise mountain bike bar
The SQlab 310 Comfort bar is the most conventional of the three new flat bars, combining a good bit of rise with plenty of backsweep. Call it a comfort-focused mountain bike & touring bar for on- and off-road riders who still want a bit of a forward lean and a bar position just a bit higher than their saddle. It doesn’t go super wide like modern trail & enduro bars, but factoring in the big backsweep it’s still quite wide.
The 310 gets 35mm rise, 720mm wide, 18° backsweep, 0° downsweep, and claimed weight of 372g.
302 high-rise trekking bike bar
The SQlab 302 Comfort bar heads more to mixed-surface touring & trekking with the same rise, but even more backsweep and the addition of downsweep. That results in a lower, further back hand position for a more upright, relaxed ride and the relaxation of tension in the neck & shoulders. At 70cm wide it’s much wider than most trekking bars for improved control, but of course can be trimmed to fit each rider’s taste.
The 302 gets 35mm rise, 700mm wide, 24° backsweep, 15° downsweep, and claimed weight of 401g.
321 extra-high-rise city bike bar
The SQlab 321 Comfort bar is the most curvy of them all with double the rise, then offset by much more back & down sweep. SQlab calls it the commuter bar to tackle the worst city streets, potholes & curbs. This will give a relaxed, upright cruiser feel to any city bike, while alleviating any tension in the neck shoulders, elbows, wrists, and eliminating numbness in your hands.
70mm rise, 680mm wide, 35° backsweep, 20° downsweep, and claimed weight of 440g.
