Ground control to NASA nerds: You can pay tribute to your space travelling heroes while you ride! State Bicycle Co. is blasting off into 2021 with their new Astronaut Collection clothing and Galaxy components.
The NASA-branded Astronaut clothing line includes three jerseys, one pair of bibshorts and a reflective jacket. Alongside the clothing, State Bicycle Co has added a stellar-looking ‘Galaxy’ oil-slick finish to several of their components, so you can give your bike some cosmic color accents too.
While State Bicycle says they’re “Boldly going where no bike brand has gone before”, they’re not the first to feature NASA logos on their riding gear: Bikerumor covered Scicon’s similarly-themed Space Agency Collection last summer.
Astronaut Collection clothing:
State Bicycle Co is expanding their sustainable clothing line, and most pieces from the Astronaut Collection (starting with these three jerseys) are made with REPREVE recycled polyester. Furthermore, the jerseys are made from 100% post-consumer waste, and their packaging is 100% post-consumer recycled material too.
The white and black Astronaut Collection jerseys were designed to mimic the look of NASA’s space suits, while the Atmosphere black/blue color scheme was inspired by views of planet Earth from outer space. Construction is identical between the three jersey designs: All styles feature full length zippers, hem grippers, and a three-pouch rear pocket. Fit-wise, the jerseys offer a performance cut.
The black, white and Atmosphere Astronaut Jerseys sell for $79.99. All are available in sizes S-XXL.
The Astronaut Bibs are made using mostly recycled materials (including REPREVE polyester) and shipped in 100% recycled packaging. These shorts feature a performance cut, and include high-grade black leg grippers. The other black panels utilize a Rich-Black lycra that resists fading with wear.
The Astronaut Bibs retail at $89.99. Sizes range from S-XXL.
It’s just my humble opinion, but this jacket’s reflective silver fabric is perfect for a space-suit inspired piece! Of course, the fully reflective shell makes this jacket an ideal choice for any city commuter who wants to remain highly visible to motorists.
The Astronaut Reflective Jacket features wind and water-resistant materials, and has one hidden pocket. Its cape vent and armpit vents should keep you from overheating while you ride. The jacket is the only garment in the Astronaut Collection that doesn’t feature recycled materials. MSRP is $89.99, and sizes range from S-XXL.
Galaxy Components:
State Bicycle Co.’s alloy Wider Riser Bars are 800mm wide, with a 24mm rise and a 31.8mm clamp diameter. They weigh in at 330g, and their MSRP is $34.99.
The 3D forged alloy Sleek Stem is a long and low option, measuring 90mm in length with a -7° rise. Its 31.8mm clamp allows it to pair up with the above Riser Bar for a colorful cockpit. The stem weighs 173g, and retails for $34.99.
State Bicycle Co.’s alloy seatpost features a dual-bolt clamp, and comes in 27.2 or 31.6mm diameters. Either option comes 380mm long, and weight ranges from 300-350g. The seat post costs $34.99.
Finally, a flashy bottle cage is a cheap and easy way to add some flair to your ride, so State Bicycle slicked one up. Their super lightweight alloy cage weighs just 25g, and is designed for easy access while holding your bottle securely. The cage sells for $24.99.
