Fixie & single speed bike maker State Bicycle Co. has a new special run of their alloy Black Label urban commuting track bike. Dubbed the limited edition Typhoon Blue for its standout color, the aluminum city bike is an affordable way to spin around town.
Black Label v2 track bike – Typhoon Blue edition
Just last October, AZ-based State updated their top-spec Black Label urban track bike with a new tapered headtube and full carbon fork that shed almost a pound and a half over the previous generation with a new set of wheels too.
The double-butted 6061 alloy frame keeps the aero tube shaping of its predecessor, and the same track-inspired urban fixie geometry for zipping around the city, also adding water bottle braze-ons. What’s new here is just the bright blue frame color, that State says will only stick around as long as this batch of frames lasts on their shelves. No official word on how many they ordered.
Complete bike price starts at $630 – the same as the other color runs – with the option for road drop or mountain riser bars, and including brakes and a flip-flop wheel setup to easily go from fixed to freewheeling. A frameset alone runs $300 including the FSA integrated headset, with six sizes available (49-62cm).
And if you order the bike in the next 3 weeks or so, you can get a free lightweight Kryptonite Keeper 512 combo coil lock by using code: “FREELOCK” at checkout.
