We’ve seen some interesting map pattern reflective designs from Showers Pass in the past with their Hi-vis Torch jacket with its own built-in LEDs in the cuffs. But while that jacket was all about being seen at any cost, their latest waterproof Atlas jacket blends a bit more low-key styling that still pops for excellent visibility while riding or even on foot at night. Now you can blend incognito style in while tooling around during the day, and still be seen at night…

Made with the same waterproof, breathable, and highly reflective city map pattern MapREflect fabric as the Torch, the new Atlas will have you being seen at night with a design that doesn’t scream hi-vis during the day. With a more traditional look and cut than most cycling jackets, the Atlas still gets on-the-bike friendly features.

Designed with similar features as Showers Pass’ wet weather Refuge jacket, the fully waterproof and breathable MapREflect lends a combination of weatherproofing and comfort in a stretchy fit designed to move the rider on the bike. Down both side the Atlas gets extra-long zipped core vents to keep you from overheating and be easy to access on the go. Living and commuting in a hilly city for our EU office, that certainly would get regular use from us.

The jacket also gets reinforced rubberized shoulders for retained waterproofing while carrying a backpack, adjustable cuffs to let in or block out air for better ventilation, a removable hood that can fit over a helmet or be stuffed in its own inside pocket, hand warmer pockets and a chest pocket with audio ports, plus loops at the back to secure a blinkie light.

The $275 Atlas jacket‘s design incorporates maps of 11 international bike-friendly cities. So people in Portland, New York, Washington DC, Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam, London, Newcastle, Berlin, Sydney, and Taipei might be able to use it in a pinch for giving directions if the figure out which arm points to which continent. Interestingly, Showers Pass says that because of how the create the reflective pattern on the fabric and then cut & sew together the jackets, the pattern always ends up in a different orientation, so no two jackets are exactly the same.

The Atlas only comes in this low-key black that shines at night, and is available in five sizes each for both men & women – from small to extra extra large.

Wonder of they talked to Race Face about the name….. Cool jacket though!

That’s one of the sickest jackets I’ve seen in awhile. Would definitely go well with a Race Face specced bike.

I really wish they would make the cut on their jackets longer..
I realize it’s a cyclist cut, and made to not bag up while riding, but christ on a cracker I have to size up in everything they make and it still has a hard time to even cover my belt line.

Sweet looking jacket, but this whole “blend in by day, increase visibility at night” thing kind of overlooks the fact that plenty of riders are hit due to poor visibility in the daytime too. I suppose there are plenty of hi-vis neon jackets out there already, so this may be filling an underserved niche, but it just seems discordant.

Not everyone wants to wear hi-vis neon all the time man. Plus, they released that exact jacket a few months ago: https://www.showerspass.com/products/mens-hi-vis-torch-jacket-red-led-beacon-lights

I think this is cool, great take on making reflective great more interesting. My wife’s comment ” maybe if it had flowers or unicorns I would like it….. But a map…. Not so much ”
