Swiftwick is fully dedicated to engineering high-performance socks for gearheads, roadrunners, thru-hikers — you name it, Swiftwick probably has a sock for it.

The brand just launched the Flite XT Trail, which it calls “the most technologically advanced sock ever developed for hiking and trail running,” the Flite XT Trail.

Let’s see how that claim fits.

Flite XT Trail sock performance features

In designing the Merino-wool Flite XT Trail sock, Swiftwick used its proprietary AnkleLock technology and GripDry fiber blend, then added banded arch support.

The ankle support and arch band provide stability over burly terrain, long treks, or both.

The GripDry fibers add friction to the forefoot and heel, thereby mitigating slippage within the shoe.

Finally, the Merino wool behaves as an all-season temperature regulator — wicking moisture away from the foot to keep it cool in the heat and warm in the cold.

Pro triathlete Vanessa Foerster tested a pair out before release: “I made sure to put it to the test with 4,000ft of gain in 4 miles, this sock stayed in place and felt like a hug to my feet,” she reported. “[It] is the ultimate trail adventure sock.” Meaning, this sounds like it could be a great option for bikepackers, people who ride to other trails to do some hiking, or anyone who just wants a versatile outdoor sock with tons of tech.

Performance sock options

The Flite XT Trail sock is available in ankle-height Two or crew-length Five cuffs. At the time of writing, Swiftwick only offers the XT Trail in dark heather grey, but it will eventually be available in charcoal, too.

Both cuts are available in sizes S, M, L, and XL.
