Syncros has expanded its premium mountain bike wheel lineup with two new carbon Revelstoke trail wheelsets that are surprisingly light, yet still built to survive everything from all-mountain to enduro riding. Weighing in at just 1500g for the 29er Revelstoke 1.0s, the 30mm internal carbon wheels are conventionally laced to DT Swiss hubs for proven reliability & ease of servicing.

The new Revelstokes are Syncros’ 2nd generation of carbon all-mountain wheels, and they’re now both lighter & tougher than ever thanks in large part to more refined carbon construction and a wider, more impact-resistant bead hook design. Compared to the first Revelstoke wheels, these new wheels are said to save 19% on weight with an all-new rim profile and upgraded hub tech.

What’s new?

The new Syncros Revelstoke carbon trail wheels come in two spec levels that share the same 30mm hookless carbon rim. The new carbon rim profile is a millimeter narrower at 30mm inside. And they are now also shallower than they are wide for the double benefit of being lighter and more vertically compliant.

Light is always good, but for a tough set of carbon mountain bike wheels that increased compliance means they are more likely to survive sharp impacts, too.

In fact, Syncros used to describe the Revelstoke as more of a cross-country to trail wheelset, and now says they are “fully dedicated for trail and enduro riders.”

Both 1.0s & 1.o versions of the new 29er Revelstokes are laced to trusted DT Swiss centerlock hubs with 28 straight-pull spokes.

The more expensive Revelstoke 1.0s wheels feature DT 240 hubs with 36T Ratchet EXP internals, DT Swiss Aerolite aero spokes & DT Pro Lock nipples for a claimed complete wheelset weight of just 1500g.

The Revelstoke 1.0 wheels dial it back to save quite a bit of money with the same carbon rim, built up with DT 370 hubs with 36T SL classic Star Ratchet internals. Then, they get laced with Syncros-branded spokes & nipples for a claimed weight of still just 1650g.

When you add up the CL disc rotors there is no benefit. I have a 2018 set of Roval Traverse Sl Fattie 29r wheels with the same internal rim width. They’re 1580g and have the 6 bolt straight-pull IS DT 350 hubs. I see no reason to replace what I have with something more expensive and heavier.
