The MET Estro MIPS is a road-specific helmet with 26 vents, a dedicated sunglasses port, and a comfort-driven fit – all at a decent price (for high-end, feature-packed helmets).
With ventilation a priority in the design, 17 of the Estro MIPS’ 26 vents are inlets and nine are exhaust holes. The helmet features MET’s Safe-T Upsilon retention system for a comfortable and versatile fit on, as MET says, “almost all different shaped heads, round or more oval.” Adding to the comfort is the 360° head belt with vertical adjustments, an adjustable divider, and hand-washable comfort pads.
The full polycarbonate wrap and in-molded EPS liner work in conjunction with the MIPS-C2 brain protection system—a technology designed to reduce the rotational impact of a crash. As a refresher, the system claims to improve rider safety by allowing the helmet to move slightly in relation to the head in a crash, reducing the rotational forces applied to the brain.
The MET Estro MIPS is aimed squarely at road, cyclocross, and gravel riders, and comes in small, medium, and large. A medium weighs in at 270g (9.5 ounces). The Estro MIPS will be available for purchase in November 2021 and is available in six colors at $159.
