Many MTB riders have some interest in motocross too, so most of us have at least heard of Thor clothing and gear. Thor has been making motocross apparel since 1968, and they’ve finally decided to jump into the MTB world… in a big way! To launch their first ever bike line, they’ve sponsored DH racing superstar Aaron Gwin. Gwin is no stranger to moto bikes, which he raced as a teen (between his BMX and MTB years).
Thor’s new MTB gear is called the Assist Collection. Their initial release includes jerseys, shorts, pants and gloves, covering everyone’s needs from recreational trail riders to downhill racers. Fans of Intense Bikes will be stoked to see Thor is offering all the Assist pieces in Intense factory racing colors and graphics alongside their own designs.
Thor Assist MTB Jerseys
Thor’s new Assist short sleeve jerseys are made from a durable polyester fabric that wicks moisture. They offer a performance fit, and feature Thor’s hybrid set-in sleeves.
The short sleeve jerseys sell for $39.95, and come in two graphics that each offer two colorways. The ‘React’ jerseys come in grey/purple or midnight/teal, while the ‘Shiver’ style comes in black/grey or teal/midnight.
The Intense Assist short sleeve jersey features identical construction and materials to the other Assist short sleeve jerseys. They retail at $44.95, and there are five different Intense graphics/colors to choose from.
The new Assist long sleeve jerseys are simply a full-coverage version of the short sleeve jerseys, sharing the same polyester main fabric, set-in sleeves and performance fit. The long sleeve models cost $44.95, and come in two designs/colorways: There’s black/grey or a ‘Banger’ black/charcoal style (pictured above).
The Intense Long Sleeve jersey comes in one black/charcoal Team colorway only, and retails for $49.95. All of Thor’s jerseys are available in sizes XS-2XL.
Assist MTB Shorts/Pants
Thor brought their extensive experience to their new moto-inspired Assist MTB short. The shorts are made from In-Motion fabric, and include a rear yoke stretch panel for a solid fit in riding position. The waistline boasts silicone printing and side cinches for adjustment, and the fly uses both a hook and loop closure and a single button. The shorts offer two zippered pockets for storage, and laser-cut crotch ventilation. The Assist MTB short sells for $79.95, and comes in black or teal colors.
The Intense MTB short is functionally the same as the MTB short. They retail for $89.95, and come in black or grey.
If you want Thor pants, I hope you like Intense Racing because they are only offering the pants with Intense graphics (Gwin needs a full kit for the races!). Like the shorts, the Intense Assist MTB pants are made from In-Motion fabric, and have a rear yoke stretch panel. They also include laser-cut ventilation and mesh panels in key areas to keep you cool. The waist uses a ratchet-style closure, has silicone printing inside, and cinches at the sides for a precise fit. Two zippered pockets carry your trail/bike park essentials. MSRP for the Intense Assist MTB Pant is $109.95.
The Assist Liner Short provides some saddle padding with a multi-density TMF Moete 3 chamois. The liners feature a 1.5” elastic waistband and an 8” inseam length. A compression fit and silicone printing on the lower legs ensure a snug fit, and low-profile flatlock stitching should keep the seams from rubbing you the wrong way. The liner short sells for $39.95, and comes in black only.
All pants, shorts and liner shorts are available in waist sizes 28-40.
Assist MTB Gloves
Finally, to complete your kit you need matching gloves! The Assist glove follows a minimalist design, but includes a few key features; the fingertips have silicone printed graphics for solid brake lever control, and the palms are made from perforated Clarino. The wrist offers a low-profile hook and loop closure on the underside, and the inner thumb is wrapped for durability. Thor’s Assist Glove sells for $24.95, and your color options are black/grey, midnight/teal or grey/purple.
Last up, the Intense Assist Glove is the same as the above model except for the graphics. The Intense style sells for $27.95, and they come in ‘Dart’ black/red, ‘Team’ black/red, or ‘Chex’ black/grey. Thor’s MTB gloves are available in sizes XS-2XL.
