That first-class section of the plane always looks so good. The extra room, the added comfort. Now, Trek says you can have that first-class experience…well, with their new e-bike, at least.

Introducing the Trek Charter+, a townie e-bike with fully integrated features and a good amount of adjustability. They equipped the Charter+ with a Bosch Performance Line Sport motor and either a 540Wh or 800Wh battery, depending on the model. Trek also provided an automatic shifting option, a fully adjustable cockpit, and integrated lights.

The goal was to provide users with a premium e-bike experience that elevates their ride.

Trek Charter+ Details

The Charter+ takes a bit of a detour from what we are used to with Trek. Where we typically see multiple build and frame material options, Trek kept things simple with the Charter+.

Trek offers the Charter+ in two build options–4S and 5S–and two frame design options–a low-step or step-over. The Charter+ 4S offers a low-step or step-over frame, while the 5S is available only in the low-step. All frames are constructed from Trek’s Premium Alpha Platinum Aluminum that looks an awful lot like carbon.

The most significant difference between the 4S and 5S builds is the Di2 Shimano Nexus internal 5-speed rear hub. Trek pairs the autoshifting with a Gates CDX belt drive, a similar system to other bikes in this category, such as the Priority Glide. This system automatically adjusts to the ride, helping to maintain speed and cadence.

The Charter+ 4S comes with a traditional Shimano CUES 9-speed drivetrain.

Battery size is also a distinction between the Charter+ 4S and 5S. Trek equipped the 4S, both the low-step and step-over, with a 540Wh battery. The 5S has the larger 800Wh battery, and both builds utilize the Bosch Performance Line Sport motor with 750W of power.

Regardless of the battery size, it is removable through the top of the downtube and locks into place. The Trek Charter+ is a Class 2 e-bike, meaning it can assist up to 28 MPH.

Both the Charter+ 4S and 5S come with fenders, front and rear, with integrated front and rear lights. The bikes also have an MIK HD rear rack that can haul up to 60 lbs and an adjustable stem.

The 4S and 5S low-step frames are available in S, M, and L sizes, while the 4S step-over frame is available in M, L, and XL sizes. The Trek Charter+ 4S retails for $3,999.99, while the 5S retails for $4,499.99.
