Keeping up with the trend of introducing special paint schemes for key riders, Trek has unveiled the latest Project One creation for John Degenkolb. Known for his performance in classics like Milan-San Remo and Paris-Roubaix, Degenkolb will be racing the rest of the spring classics on this Cafe Racer inspired Domane. However, this isn’t just a standard Domane, it’s the new Domane SLR Race Shop Limited Disc, which is also available now through Project One…
Built around the Domane SLR’s road taming performance, the Race Shop Limited Disc version adds Trek’s Pro Endurance geometry to the bike which is longer and features a lower more aerodynamic position. That means that frames also start at 54cm and go up to 62cm – smaller sizes need not apply. While the Domane SLR Race Shop Limited was already in the line up, the newest version adds disc brakes to the mix – and since you’re probably not a UCI pro, you won’t have to worry about whether or not they’re allowed in competition.
Tribute paint jobs alwasy seems to be something best suited to the pro that they’re honoring, but I have to admit I quite like this one. Hand scuffed liquid metal paint with a dark smoke tint and pops of red with minimal team logoing make this an understated yet unique paint scheme. And as usual, the paint option will be available through Trek’s Project One on any Domane – though the paint alone will set you back $1,500.
