Adding to the disc brake options for aero geeks, SRAM has a new stopper. After years of companies creating various work arounds for disc brakes with TT levers, SRAM is joining TRP and likely Magura in offering a full hydraulic system this fall. Sram’s new S900 Aero HRD or Hydraulic Road Disc system, is not only a full hydraulic system, but one that is supposedly tuned to provide a package that is as aerodynamic as it is powerful…
Designed with an “aero specific platform,” the HydroT system offers all the benefits of hydraulic disc brakes including lower lever force needed to stop, increased modulation and stopping power, plus self adjusting pistons for pad wear. The calipers themselves are flat mount only for 140 or 160mm rotors, while the levers include a textured carbon brake lever with reach adjustment. The whole system includes SRAM’s Bleeding Edge bleed procedure for Dot 5.1 fluid and a Stealth-A-Majig connector for easy set up. Claimed weight is 240g per brake.
Available in September, the brakes will run $249 per brake and $72 for a CenterLine X rotor.
