Urwahn first rode their 3D-printed, no-seattube steel bikes off-road with a special limited edition, but now the new Waldwiesel opens up accessibility of their unique ‘Softride’ gravel bike. It even adds a Waldwiesel.E e-bike version with a stealthy ebikemotion powertrain that you could easily miss, to help riders go further…

Urwahn’s limited edition Acros EDT was the first to take their uniquely designed & built frame onto gravel – taking advantage of the inherent vibration-damping feel of the Softride steel frame without a seattube connection between the seat & chainstays. Now the pair of regular bike & e-bike Waldwiesels should make it easier to get ahold of a gravel Urwahn.

The secret of all of the Urwahn bikes is their flexible manufacturing process, using 3D-printed steel lugs, welded to conventional steel tubing, then neatly ground smooth for a monocoque look that seems more akin to carbon frames than steel ones. Functionally, the new Waldwiesel is no different than the Acros Edition.

The Waldwiesel just becomes Urwahn’s standard production gravel bike.

While the limited edition build offered the option of a Lauf suspension fork, the Waldwiesels come standard with Urwahn’s own aluminum CT1-FK1 fork featuring internal brake routing, external rack & fender mounts, flat mount brake, and 12mm thru-axle. Both frame & fork are built for fast gravel, with clearance for 700 x 40mm tires. Riders looking for a bit more, could conceivably opt for an aftermarket carbon gravel fork.

The 1x-only frame is belt drive ready with a seatstay break, and features BB386EVO/BSA threaded/eccentric bottom bracket options for singlespeed or geared hub builds. It also gets a 12mm thru-axles with a modular dropout, flat mount disc brakes, a 27.2mm seatpost, and fully internal cable routing through an Acros ICR headset.
