More and more riders are starting to reach for dedicated full face helmets when it comes to enduro. Which makes sense, considering that modern enduro courses include technical features and overall speed worthy of downhill bikes in many regards. But since there is also quite a bit of pedaling in enduro races, it pays to have a helmet that is light weight, well ventilated, and still quite protective. That’s what Urge BP is going for with their newest helmet, the Lunar.
One of the early pioneers in full face enduro helmets, the Lunar builds on that experience with more protection and (much) bigger vents. Built with 15 vents overall, the chin bar is basically just one massive vent with some reinforcements thrown in to provide the protection if you land on your face.
Importantly, the helmet is still ASTM F1952 downhill certified in spite of all the vents and light weight construction. Made with 80% recycled materials, the helmet relies on a in-molded shell made from recycled EPS, a visor made from recycled ABS, and straps made from recycled PET. Combined, you’re looking at just 750g for a small/medium helmet which is quite light for a full face.
Offered in three colors, the helmet will be sold in two sizes S/M : 54 – 57 and L/XL : 57-59. Available now, the helmet will sell for 169 € RRP.
