Thomas Genon and his team of diggers are in Virgin, Utah, preparing for the Belgian’s 2023 Red Bull Rampage. He’s been a regular contender since 2012, with his best results coming in 2015 and 2018 when he landed fifth place.
This year, Genon is a pre-qualified rider alongside 2-time Champion Reed Boggs, Szymon Godziek and Carson Storch. He will be hoping to go better than fifth place this year, in an extraordinary field of contenders that includes a former World Cup Downhill Champion, Gee Atherton.
In this little warm up video, Genon, Louis Reboul and Paul Couderc ride Big Water and the old Rampage sites. He reveals his plans to take on the same line he rode last year, only with bigger and more jumps this time.
The main event kicks off on Friday 13th October. The full rider list can be seen here.
Genon’s comments on his bike setup for 2023: “Single crown this year! Hard-tuned bike (model Canyon Torque AL 27.5) with not much suspension rebound. 2.4 tire and with a higher pressure than usually. In short, the bike only works well in Utah“.
