Vielo’s award-winning gravel race bike just leveled up. Meet the new V+1 Race Edition 2.1, a refined version of the British brand’s flagship one-by gravel rocket, now built around SRAM’s Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) standard and 13-speed RED XPLR compatibility.

From the outside, the V+1 Race Edition 2.1 may appear to be the same sculpted carbon machine that turned heads last season. Under the paint, however, Vielo has invested heavily in a redesign for the SRAM UDH. They redesigned the rear triangle to make the frame fully UDH compatible, meaning it’s ready to run SRAM’s latest direct-mount RED, Force, and Rival XPLR derailleurs.

What Is the Vielo V+1 Race Edition 2.1?

Just so we’re all on the same page, the Vielo V+1 Race Edition 2.1 is Vielo’s race-focused gravel bike engineered specifically around 1x drivetrains. It embraces everything that makes gravel racing fast and fun. Tire clearance up to 50mm, a fast and fun geometry, and now, UDH and 13-speed drivetrain compatibility.

What’s New in 2.1?

  • UDH-Compatible Rear Triangle: Built from the ground up to work with SRAM’s new RED XPLR Full Mount derailleur
  • 13-Speed Compatibility: Supports SRAM’s 13-speed RED XPLR cassette
  • Featherweight Axles: New axles weigh just 51g a pair
  • Premium Headset: Titanium-ceramic bearings for durability and ultra-smooth steering
  • Fresh Colorways: Two bold new paint jobs round out the updates

According to Vielo, the rear triangle had to be completely redesigned to support the UDH interface. This update keeps the clean, minimal aesthetic while enabling modern drivetrain integration. The switch to UDH also opens the door to more drivetrain options, future-proofing the platform for racers looking to upgrade.

They talk about the new version having a lower more stable centre of gravity in the marketing fluff. It has a BB drop of 70??? That’s higher than most road bikes. Is the listed BB drop wrong, or was the old one a touring bike with 60mm BB drop? Either way, 70mm is 10 years out of date … that’s a cross bike.
