When Vision introduced the Metron 4D, the Aero Ergo flat top riser bar was loved for its comfort. However, the bar did place riders in a slightly higher position and pros like Contador who are trying to get low, or just prefer a flat bar, wanted something a bit different. Built with a similar Aero-Ergo design but with a flat top instead of the riser, the new Trimax Road Compact bar should be the perfect compliment to the Metron 4D.
Along with the Trimax, Vision also had a set of new budget friendly wheels, while FSA was showing off the new Nibali Shark kit which is currently available for preorder…
Calling the width +10mm, each bar measure the claimed width at the top (40, 42, or 44cm) then flares out on each side to add 10mm total to the drops. Measuring in with a 125mm drop, 31.8mm clamp, and 80mm reach, the drops have a 2 degree outward bend, and a 10 degree forward bend for the bar overall. Made with continuous carbon fiber, the bars feature a UD carbon finish and have a cable groove that has been updated to be more compatible with newer Di2 systems. Available in black and white versions, the bars weigh in at 231g for the 42cm and are in stock now for $349.
You’ll find the new Team 25 wheelset at the opposite end of the performance spectrum, but with an extremely affordable price tag of $249 for the set. The aluminum rims use a 25mm deep cross section with a machined braking surface and 20/24 spokes. Compatible with 9/10/11 speed drivetrains, the hubs include 4 sealed bearing per wheel with j-bend spokes laced radially front and 3x drive/radial non-drive rear. Shipped with quick releases and rim tape, the wheels are built by hand and weigh in at 1,820g without the QR.
First spotted out at Eurobike, FSA is now shipping the SLK 20º Stems and Low Riser handlebars to keep the front end of your big wheel low. Available in 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, and 120mm each at -20º drops.
Also introduced last year, the time has come to get your order in for the extremely limited FSA Nibali Shark kit. Even though Nibali’s tour hopes for the year might be in question after this morning’s news regarding Astana’s racing license, you can still own a set of limited edition K-Force parts that will stand out in the peloton. Made to honor the 2014 Winner of the Tour de France, the K-Force bar, stem, and seat post will only be made in a single run of 300 pieces each. Carrying the same retail as standard K-Force parts, the full kit will be sold together at a special 10% discount and include the Nibali poster. K-force compact bars will be available in 20, 42, and 44mm widths, stems in 100, 110, and 120mm, and seat posts in 27.2mm with 350 or 400mm lengths only.
