The Vision SC 48 i25 wheels promise performance at an affordable price, whether riding on road or gravel. Vision is calling the SC 48 i25 “The Intelligent Choice,” aiming to maintain high technical standards while hitting a reasonable price point.

The new offering from Vision falls in the brand’s SC, or Service-Course wheel range.

Vision Philosophy

With the Vision SC 48 i25, the brand sought to offer the perfect blend of performance and value. For over 15 years, Vision has sponsored World Tour and Continental race teams, where they have pushed quality and innovation.

Racing at the highest levels means crafting components to withstand what is being asked by the teams and athletes. Vision’s time and experience allow them to do just that: create a quality carbon rim worthy of top-tier racing. Yet, the brand’s efficiencies in engineering and manufacturing also enable them to keep costs reasonable.

Vision SC 48 i25 Performance

The new Vision SC 48 i25 sports a 48mm aero profile and, as the name suggests, a 25mm inner width. The carbon rims feature a hooked channel for wider tires, allowing the SC 48 i25s to cross road surfaces — road and gravel.

Vision uses its top-selling V-200 hub with 24 aero-blade spokes laced with a 2:1 cross pattern. The hub features a new pawl system and updated design with no bearing preload adjustment. Despite these changes, the V-200 has press-fit end caps, improving reliability and creating a more maintenance-friendly experience.

Despite their gravel approval, the Vision SC 48 i25 went through rigorous aerodynamic testing to find the perfect profile. With Vision’s experience with CFD development, they sought to develop a wheel that balances stability, durability, and aero performance.

In their CFD analysis, Vision tested over 300 rim profile variables across road and gravel categories. Rim depths from 40-65mm were tested, along with different widths. In the end, the combination of a 48mm depth and 25mm inner width checked the boxes Vision needed. The taller rim still provides good aerodynamics and reduces drag, while the wider rim allows for wider tires and adds stability.

Along with the aero and stability considerations, Vision was able to keep a reasonable weight while balancing aero performance and durability. The Vision SC 48 i25 carbon wheels tip the scales at 1,590g.
