Wahoo is bringing its training platform to Apple Watch.

The new Wahoo Apple Watch app lets runners and cyclists record workouts, follow structured sessions, connect compatible sensors, and sync completed activities back to their Wahoo training profile.

That gives Wahoo a cleaner wrist-based option for athletes who already train with Apple Watch, but want their runs and rides to count inside Wahoo’s training tools.

Apple X Wahoo – Structured Workouts From the Wrist

For runners, structured workouts can be synced from the Wahoo app on iPhone directly to Apple Watch. Once the workout starts, athletes can follow target metrics like pace and heart rate zones, with alerts when intervals change.

That makes the app more useful than a basic run recorder. It lets athletes follow planned sessions without needing another screen or device strapped elsewhere.

Wahoo says the app also works with the TRACKR Heart Rate Monitor and KICKR RUN, tying the watch into the brand’s hardware lineup.

Cyclists Get Sensor Support

Cyclists can record indoor and outdoor rides from Apple Watch, with support for compatible power meters, speed and cadence sensors, and Wahoo KICKR smart trainers.

That is the key detail for riders. Apple Watch can already log a ride, but sensor support makes the Wahoo app actually useful for training, not just a “I forgot my head unit” kinda deal. We all know riders care most about power, cadence, trainer data, and heart rate when a session has structure.

Completed rides automatically sync to the Wahoo platform, where they feed into the athlete’s profile, training capacity, and fitness score.

Training Readiness Comes Later This Year

Wahoo says recovery features are coming soon.

Later this year, the Apple Watch app will add Training Readiness insights using recovery metrics captured by Apple Watch, including HRV, resting heart rate, and sleep. Wahoo will combine that data with the athlete’s training history to give the platform more context before recommending work.

That could matter most long term. Wahoo has been putting more emphasis on training guidance, and Apple Watch already collects a lot of the recovery data needed to make those recommendations smarter.

Recovery scores aren’t magic, but they can help keep riders from turning every tired day into another threshold workout.

Pricing and Availability

The Wahoo Apple Watch app is available now for Apple Watch users running watchOS 11 or later.

Workout tracking and recovery features are free. Wahoo CORE unlocks training features for €4.99 per month, while Wahoo PRO adds personalized recommendations, the full workout library, and advanced planning tools for €17.99 per month.

The app is not trying to replace an ELEMNT computer on the bike. It does not need to. It gives Wahoo a proper Apple Watch option for recording, structured training, sensor pairing, and future recovery insight, all feeding back into the same Wahoo training profile.
